The element of surprise is the key to a successful suicide squeeze. An ideal time to “put it on” is after something a little out of the ordinary has just occurred, like a controversial out/safe call where an argument has taken place. Just about everyone is thinking about the controversial call and defenses are often caught off guard. Just make sure the batter and runner don’t start acting like Bonnie and Clyde parked outside a bank or the element of surprise will be destroyed. Try to get the sign early from your Coach and the last thing you want to do is to have the Coach have to repeat the sign. The longer a batter looks at his 3B Coach the more suspicious the team in the field will become!
