All players come to the plate for 5 pitched balls in every round. After a hitter hits, they move to the back of the “in” or the “out” line and the drill continues with the next batter.
- Round 1 – Batters must hit 3 out of 5 balls fair to remain in.
- Round 2 – Batters must successfully bunt the first pitch and hit 3 of the remaining 4 baseballs to remain in.
- Round 3 – Batters must hit 4 out of 5 balls fair to remain in.
- Round 4 – Hitters must successfully bunt the first pitch and hit 4 of the remaining 4 balls to remain in.
- Round 5 – Players must hit 5 out of 5 baseballs fair to remain in.
- Round 6 – Players must successfully bunt the first pitch and hit 4 of the remaining 4 balls beyond the infield to remain in.
- Round 7 – Players must hit 5 out of 5 balls fair and out of the infield to remain in.
To get all 12 of our youth baseball players through this, we leave 30 minutes at the end of baseball practice.
