Probably my favorite hitting drill has got to be the fence drill, where you take the bat, put the handle at your waist, and the end cap on the fence, and stay in that spot.
You then swing while trying not to strike the fence with the bat, and this helps you to stay “inside” of the ball. Just be sure to use an old junker bat in case you do strike the fence (which you will :).
