TRAVELING BASEBALL TRYOUT RESULTS & TEAM PLACEMENT

Baseball Dugout Diaries Issue 6 (April 11, 2013) – Well, the tryout process is done and team placement is complete.  Now it is time to move on to meeting my new “A” team and getting the season going…

HOWEVER…  As I type this, we are getting freezing rain and the forecast says we are supposed to get between 6 and 15 inches of snow by Friday!  Yes, it is April 10 and that is our forecast…  Last year, we had 80 degree days in March (unseasonal).  High school baseball teams here have been postponing/canceling games left and right.  There is nothing we can do about it I guess, but it is frustrating…

First Contact

I got my team roster as soon as team selection was done so I created a contact list with all my players and their parents.  I sent off my first email to them and introduced myself, attached the roster (kids were chomping at the bit to find out who was going to be on their team), gave them some important dates and told them I would be in contact with more information soon.

I heard back from a handful of families with updated contact info and to let me know if their son would miss any time.  I appreciated that and hope to hear from all of them very soon.

League Scheduling Meeting

This Saturday, we have our mandatory league scheduling meeting.  In the Minneapolis Metro Area, we have what is called the Metro League, which is a league that spans all age groups.  They organize, plan and conduct an end of year league playoff and championship.  They have specific rules for their league and do a lot for youth baseball in MN.

During the scheduling meeting, all the coaches for 10A bring their calendars and schedule the year.  This is nice because it allows me to schedule things when I can be there as well as make sure most of my players can be there.

Thank You!

That’s it for today.  Please let me know if you have ANY baseball questions.  I try to answer them asap when I get them.

Also, don’t forget to visit the store for top baseball products that will help you and your players.
