BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU RECEIVE A BASE ON BALLS!

If a pitcher walks you, remember that you are entitled to first base only. If you walk, jog or run past first base and you are tagged out by the first baseman, YOU ARE OUT! Even if you don’t make any motion toward second base you are out. I umpire many games and occasionally I’ll see a catcher lob the ball to 1B after a batter walks. I know what they’re looking for….the runner going past 1B! Not too many baseball people know this rule but it applies to Little League, Babe Ruth, High School, College and MLB. Imagine losing a game like that? Ouch!!!
