12 & UNDER BASEBALL RULE – WAS UMPIRE’S RULING CORRECT?

In a 12 under game with a 7 run per inning limit, is there a specified rule stating that the home team gets to try to tie the game or win even though they are down by 8 runs?

We were the visiting team and up by 8 going into the last inning. The opposing team was given the opportunity to tie game and did. Our catcher made a great diving catch to end the inning or we would have lost game. We did end up winning the baseball game in extra innings…

We questioned the umps ruling to allow them a chance to tie… Your thoughts?

Thanks for the question!

Well, this answer is pretty simple. If what you say about the rules above is correct, then the visiting team should have only been given a chance to score 7 runs that inning. That meant you would have been assured of winning by one run.

What was the umpires explanation?

Thanks again!
